A good Friday evening to one & all, I hope no one got too wet in the torrential rain we’ve had today.
On the PaperArtsy blog this week the amazing Alison Bomber wowed us all with her stunning projects & I chose to do a journal page inspired by a few of the techniques she used. You can see Alison’s projects by clicking on the links:

My journal page looked like this initially. I had a lot bleed through from the Dylusions inks on the previous page, despite using gesso. So I covered the page with white gesso & a few coats of Stone fresco paint.
I wanted buttons a la Alison, but because they would be in my journal they had to be quite flat, so I die cut circles from a scrap of grunge paper & covered them with the stamped tissue paper.
Lots of book text, grunge paste & mesh that I found in my ribbon box, I’ve no idea where it’s from.
Time to start throwing paint around. I wanted a neutral background, so I used only Nougat & Toffee frescos. I sanded over some of the grunge paste & then pulled & broke some of the threads of the mesh – I couldn’t remove any of it as I’d sealed it down too well – before adding White Fire treasure gold at the very end.
Then I added an assortment of stamped tags (stamps used: PaperArtsy, Tim Holtz & Chocolate Baroque) & the buttons. The buttons were a bit of a disaster. I’d stamped the images with archival inks, but the circles looked too white when I glued on the tissue so I painted over them & lost the definition of the images. I suppose they look grungy & distressed, which works with the page.
That’s all for now, thanks to Alison for the inspiration. See you all next time.
